Pilot Script

This is the Script for the Pilot Episode of Ellie's World, which features an introduction to Ellie and the World she is dreamt into.

(Establishing shot of a car driving down a road, the camera stays with the car until it stops outside of a small school.)

(The camera shows a little girl (Ellie) looking behind the camera where her mother is and stays on Ellie as she leaves the car)

Ellie’s mother-Remember to walk home tonight sweetie, I’ll be home for an hour before you go to bed

(Ellie holds a disappointed smile)

Ellie’s mother- Do you have your key?

Ellie-Yeah mom, Love you.

Ellie’s mother-Love you too

(The camera follows Ellie out the door and into the playground, she sits on a bench, pulls a book out of her bag, but doesn’t open it, instead she looks at the camera with the same disappointed smile)

(While Ellie stays in the same sitting position and facial expression, the scene around her changes from sitting in class, being picked last in a PE Class, sitting alone at Lunch and eventually standing outside as all the other mothers pick up their kids)

(Establishing shot of Ellie’s house)

(Wide shot of Ellie’s room, Ellie is sitting on the floor, drawing her pet ferret in the corner)

Voice coming from the door,

Ellie’s mother-Ellie sweetie, time for bed the babysitter will be here in a minute.

(Ellie gets into bed and looks sad, she realises how lonely her life is and wishes for change, she looks up at the ceiling before closing her eyes)

Ellie-I wish I wasn’t so lonely

(Wide shot of Ellie sleeping, from her window above the bed, a glittery dust begins to circle around her, lifting her up and standing her upright, around her the bedroom fades, and is replaced by an orange and pink sky, the camera goes above her as she lays down on a grey pavement. She wakes up as the camera rotates around her to reveal the amazing theme park she’s looking at)

Ellie-Wow!

(CREDITS ROLL)

(Wide shot of Ellie walking up to a gate, above it in big letters it says ELLIE’S WORLD, downward shot of Ellie looking up)

Ellie-What?

(Over the shoulder shot of the gates opening showing a street of broken food signs, empty information stands and shops, and stationary rides, back to wide shot of Ellie from the side)

Ellie-I wish someone could tell me what’s with this place, I can just imagine all the people running around here

(In front of Ellie 100 or so human people spring to life, and begin running around, kids dragging their parents to rides, people running to the shops and food outlets, etc)

Ellie-What!?

(In a wide shot the world seems to come to life, the shops and food outlets suddenly have clerks, the rides come to life and a strange mechanical blob floats down towards Ellie from behind the theme park skyline.)

Squidgy-Hello little human, do you need assistance?

(The camera goes to mid shot of both Ellie and Squidgy)

Ellie-WHAT!?

(Squidgy’s face changes to a question mark)

Squidgy-I’m sorry little human, I don’t know the answer to that question, do you need further assistance?)

Ellie-Wha, what are you?

(Squidgy’s face changes to a picture of himself in Pixels)

Squidgy-My name is Squidgy! I am information bot 6778/D designated for Ellie’s World.

(Squidgy’s face changes back to normal smiley face)

Squidgy-I hope you have fund this information useful!

(The camera cuts to Ellie looking very confused)

Ellie-Oh, OK, can you show me around?

Squidgy-OK!

(Montage of Ellie trying rollercoasters, eating food, trying on clothes in the shops.)

(Cut to establishing shot of a monorail, followed by a mid-shot, of Ellie and squidgy inside)

Squidgy-Over there is the Spaceport, where you can explore outer-space! And the harbour where you can explore the seas around the Park. We’re always adding more places to visit!

(Wide shot of Ellie and Squidgy back at the gates of the park, Ellie is holding an ice-cream.)

Ellie-This is all amazing, but I wish I had a friend to enjoy all this.

Squidgy-Why don’t you make a friend?

Ellie-Make a friend? What are you talking about?

Squidgy-In this world, you can create people and creatures to play with! I hope you have enjoyed this information!

(A group of people run-around in the background)

Squidgy-I see you must have accidentally created these people, why don’t you try and make a friend?

(Ellie thinks hard and thinks of her pet ferret in the real world and how she wished she could talk and play with her, suddenly she remembers being angry at the time the ferret bit her. A big shadow ingrowths Ellie and the Camera cuts to an angry looking tall ferret looking over Ellie)

Tyson-Are you really gonna wave that in my face?

(Tyson grabs the ice-cream and throws it on the ground)

Squidgy: Hello furry Human! Do you need assistance?

Tyson-What are you looking at eyeball? I’m out of here.

Ellie-Wait Tyson!

(The Camera follows Tyson walking through the park)

Tyson-Why’s that little girl always gotta wave food in my face? What is this place anyway?

(Another establish shot of a few rides and shops)

Tyson-huh I wonder what I can do with all this?

(ANIMATIC BEGINS)

(Ellie and Squidgy are walking/floating through a grassy area with rollercoaster bearings in the background)

Squidgy-Hello little human, why do you like so sad? Do you need assistance?

Ellie-Why did Tyson get so angry after I created him? Did I do something wrong?

Squidgy-The rules of this world mean everything you create feels the emotions you create it in. I hope you have enjoyed this knowledge!

Ellie-Errr Thanks! So does that mean I can change what I create?

Squidgy-Why don’t you try?

Ellie-Ok,

(Next to Squidgy, a brand new identical version pops into life next to him, albeit this time wearing a bow tie. The second squidgy begins floating into the sky)

Ellie-Whoa! Another Squidgy?

Squidgy2-Weeeeeeeeee!

Ellie-Aw, where did it go?

Squidgy-I believe you may have been thinking of something carefree. This has been most interesting!

Ellie-Yeah, great, Hey, there’s Tyson!

(The camera pans upwards and right to show Tyson hanging onto a Rollercoaster Rail)

(Squidgy floats up to him)

Squidgy-Hello furry human, do you need assistance)?

Tyson-No, there’s absolutely nothing wrong here!

Squidgy-OK!

(Squidgy floats down towards Ellie)

Tyson-Hey Princess, I’m not hanging here for the view, get me down!

Ellie-Squidgy, how do we get him down?

Squidgy-I don’t have any information on this subject, but the next train has just left the loading bay. I predict an 89% chance of Tyson getting crushed!

Ellie-Oh no! What do I do? What do I do? We need a net or something.

Squidgy-Maybe we can create someone who could tell us what to do.

Ellie-Wait, that’s it, we can create what we need!

(Ellie creates a living net, hanging below Tyson.

Net-I’ll be honest I don’t think this is gonna work.

Ellie-Tyson, Jump!

(Tyson looks at the approaching rollercoaster and falls)

Tyson-This better work!

(Tyson jumps from the rail, lands on the net and bounces off)

Net-OOF!

Ellie-You Made It!

(Tyson walks over to Ellie & Squidgy, rubbing his arms)

Squidgy-Hello furry human! Do you need assistance?

Tyson-Yeah, assistance getting away from you guys

Ellie-You’re still in a bad mood? After everything we did for you?

(Squidgy flies closer to Tyson, almost in his face)

Squidgy-Tyson still seems to be showing signs of anger, This is most fascinating!

(Tyson’s vacant expression turns into a slight smile)

Tyson-I guess you guys aren’t so bad. Still crazy though.

Ellie-Weird, how could Tyson’s emptions change I thought the people I created couldn’t…

(Ellie opens her eyes in the real world as the screen suddenly cuts to black and the credits roll)
